How effective are initiatives and referendums for People Power?
Let’s go on and jump into this next question without delay, Professor: How effective are voter initiatives & referendums to compel Force of Law and enforcement by our leaders of the Peoples Will?
Certainly, this is as some would say, cutting to the chase. In the spirit of my opening overview, this question actually points to more a direct form of voter empowerment, and by extension, voting integrity; and, quite simple to sum up concisely.
California was quite progressive in this over a century ago, a time when progressives were more in support of The People’s Electoral Conscience. The governor at time, Hiram Johnson, was a truly great leader…in ways which would strengthen the Republic and state constitutional law! If one wishes to learn more, it’s a simple matter to research who he was and what he stood for. I’m not suggesting he was saintly, but I am suggesting he was the hands and feet of a solid version of Political Providence. A type of Divine Intelligence within the heads and hearts of the American People…I speak only for myself here, not the Panel; though, there is consensus among them, each in their own way.
In regard to overall effectiveness of initiatives and referendums, there’s little doubt about the strong impact of such measures upon our representative form of democracy; mostly good I would have to say–when guided by the informed Electoral Conscience, as you have said.
The impact is quite simple to summarize actually: Much of the time, the initiative process has been bastardised to a large degree; that will change when guided by the concerned champions of the People who are one of them. How that will happen is part and parcel to the original progressive intent. That intent assumes that The People will receive balanced, truthful information about the issue at hand and how it will serve their self interest. With the dominance of regime media narratives, that had been very difficult, if not virtually impossible most times…until new media got a sure foot hold! Provided of course that their are enough committed boots on the ground and hands on cellphones and keyboards, that is where the 10% Solutions comes to the fore. Thank God it has!
That is more than enough of an overview summary of effectiveness and impact of initiatives and referendums. It is in fact the true nature of Progressivism which serves The People; that is a strong pillar of Spiritual Reality I believe. As I use the term here, Spiritual Reality basically means: to exist for a purpose to serve others while serving self interest; for others to be as important as oneself. More and more that level of Being is achieved each day of growing promise, and already it cannot be stopped because it has a strong hold in the Here and Now. And when the time fully comes, the sheer numbers will have grown far beyond the 10% solutions to be stopped by those who think they still have all the power of control! This is about the good for the many as opposed to the greed of a few.
